Kemaro Island

Kemaro Island

At that time when I was off school, me and my friends and I went to visit the island of Kemaro.Kemaro Island is located not too far from the Ampera Bridge. Just need to cross the Musi River for about 10-15 minutes, we can enjoy the beauty of Kemaro Island

Based on its name, Kemaro Island in Indonesian is Kemarau Island. So named, because the island has never been flooded even though the Musi River's water volume is increasing.

In the history of Kemaro Island, there is a story that there was a Prince from China named Tan Bun An who came to Palembang to trade, when he was asking permission from the King of Palembang, he met with the princess of the king named Siti Fatimah. And this Prince fell in love with the Princess.

Then the Prince invited the Princess to meet his family in China, and returned to Palembang to hold a wedding. The prince was provided by his parents 7 jars filled with gold, but when he arrived in Palembang, the jar only contained rotten mustard.

He also threw the jar of rotten mustard into the Musi River. But when he threw away the last jar, the jar fell on the deck and saw the contents of gold under the mustard. Without thinking, the prince jumped into the river, then his bodyguard followed him. The Princess who was waiting for the Prince who never returned finally decided to jump into the river. And to commemorate the history of the three of them a temple and tomb were built for the three people.

To cross the Kemaro Island, you can go through KutoBesak Pier or from Pusri (Sriwijaya Fertilizer). The price is cheap, just pay Rp 10 thousand rupiah (if there are many passengers) or Rp 15 thousand rupiah (if only crossing by themselves)I have a recommendation for the number of people who have a boat, at that time we were five with friends, so we only paid Rp10 thousand rupiah for one person.
